[Video] What is Virtual Reality Future Developments using FlashBack?

Virtual reality is one of the most discussable matters in the area of informational technologies. It is applied in the entertainment industry (movies, games, etc.). But it also can bring positive results for scientific purposes, in medicine, for example.

Lots of Virtual Reality future developments are going around by many startups and big giant IT players.

Then why Virtual devices are not much popular even after having a scope?

There is the main problem, which does not allow to make virtual reality devices popular and widespread. That is the high cost of equipment used for displaying an image.

Modern best-in-class VR headsets are expensive enough. For them to be in a working mode, a powerful computer is required being well equipped especially with graphics processorю.

The Same thing is with smartphones (like Samsung – Gear VR products). Which is why entity users are able to feel advantages of virtual reality.

What is the solution to make the rise in VR?

As like Microsoft contribution in Chatbot development tools, their research is also commendable in Virtual reality.

Microsoft engineers solved this problem and designed a Flashback algorithm.

What is Flashback Algorithm?

With the help of this algorithm, expensive smartphones and computers with average technical characteristics; it becomes easier to get higher frame frequency in case of virtual environment visualization.

In accordance with conducted tests using Flashback 8-multiple improvement of a frame, frequency happens even if the mobile device used is the mid-price segment.

Along with that, development engineers make a point that there is a curtailment of energetic consumption up to 97 times at calculations per one frame.

What’s the role of Virtual Reality Future Developments using Flashback Algorithm?

Functioning of the algorithm is focused on changes of graphics processor`s work.

It does not have to process a frame of virtual reality in real-time mode. An image a user is to see touches up the outlines beforehand, after that it is put for holding into the memory of a device (GPU, SSD and flash drive). An option of dispatching frames is allowed as long as while keeping in cash 4K texture taking in average 9Mb of memory use around 100 KB of available space.

Flashback is not limited to scenes: it works with static and dynamic (moving or animated objects) images.

But the real problem is …

As we know, technology is rapidly growing. It is difficult to make the Future Predictions in technology.

So far Flashback algorithm is a prototype only, which has a huge number of limits. The main of which is connected with a same-time replay of a big amount of dynamic objects. But if to take into consideration high rates of productivity increasing (without taking into account energy usage reduction), as likely as not that algorithm is involved in a commercial product in the nearest future.
