Review : what makes the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 so special ?

I do not really like this tendency of smartphones getting bigger and bigger. I think that the difference between a tablet and a phone should be obvious but as time passes and screens are getting bigger, it’s getting harder to tell which is which. This new “Phablet” (I can’t call it “tone”, now, can I?) tendency is really irritating for someone like me who likes easy handling. However, there is one thing even I can’t deny and that is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 looks really promising. This beast of a phone should come with his own bag, but with the powerful processor and big display, it causes me to reconsider my policy of carrying a few devices around and I will maybe swap my tablet and current phone with this beast of a phone.

What makes the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 so special?

That is a very good question. Up until now, I really have not thought about replacing my tablet with a smartphone. Even though the difference will be only an inch and a half to two inches, my tablet packs enough processing power to beat almost all smartphones on the market or at least that used to be the case, but the bloody thing is getting old so I need a new. But since Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3 GHz (the quad core version) which as you know is the most powerful smartphone processor at the moment, this shines a new light on balancing the two devices (tablet and phone) into one, as the Snapdragon will have enough power to give a satisfactory performance well comparable to that of a tablet. It has already dominated so many benchmark tests, anyway.

Another thing I like about this phone is that it will be equipped with 3 GB of RAM. Since I like multitasking, I have always had a problem with the RAM they put in smartphones but 3 GB should be enough even for someone like me. As far as storage is concerned, the phone will come with either 32 or 64 GB, with additional MicroSD slot able to support up to 64GB so you should not have a problem there.

The super AMOLED screen provides excellent picture, great contrast and fantastic angles. The full HD resolution will provide you with sharp images and grant you the ability to read even the smallest text on a web page. The phone comes with a 13-megapixel snapper on the back, and a 2-megapixel front camera.

The S-Pen is worth a special mention, here. The gadget is much more responsive and what truly makes this smartphone “note”.

Enough geek-speak. What about  Samsung Galaxy Note 3 design?

The phone follows the trend of other Galaxy devices but there is one thing some of you will love and some of you will hate. Since the phone will have a considerable price and size, the good people in Samsung have decided that they could kill two birds with one stone by making the back of the phone look like it was made of leather. They assure is it is not real leather, so do not worry about the animals. Still, even so it makes the phone look more expensive (or rather worth its money) and it makes it easier to handle (although I doubt you will be able to do that with one hand).

All in all, the phone looks great and has significant processing power and big display enough for browsing, reading or watching videos. With the 3200 mAh battery, it should be enough to tweek around at full capacity for at least a few hours. I will definitely be sure to give it a try when it comes out, which should be in two weeks on the 25th of September (release date).
